10 Web Design Companies to Consider for Chicago in 2026
An unranked shortlist of real providers, their published specialties and the questions that help you choose the right team.

The best web design company is the one whose experience, scope and working approach fit your requirements. A numbered list cannot establish a universal winner. This guide presents ten providers to investigate, not a ranking based on reviews we have not independently audited.
Publisher disclosure: ELEKTRIK publishes this guide and is included in the comparison. We have a commercial interest in web development. We have not commissioned work from the other providers or verified their client outcomes. Inclusion is not an endorsement or a claim that every provider has a Chicago office.
Selection criteria
The shortlist considers publicly described website, design or development capabilities relevant to Chicago businesses. Compare official portfolios, team arrangements, technical scope, ongoing support and ownership terms. The entries are alphabetical; prices are not listed because comparable, verified quotes for the same scope are not available.

How to narrow the shortlist
A finance firm, logistics business and small local service company may choose different partners. Start by defining the buying journey, content responsibilities and systems involved. Compare projects with similar operational needs rather than only visual resemblance.
For a content-focused website, ask how editors will publish and maintain material. For a portal or integration-heavy project, ask to see the proposed architecture and testing approach. For acquisition-led work, separate website delivery from ongoing search or advertising campaigns.
Evidence worth requesting
Ask the prospective team to walk through a live project and explain what it actually delivered. Distinguish design work, implementation, ongoing marketing and subcontracted responsibilities. A brand logo is not proof of a particular website result or of local client experience.
Talk to relevant references where available, with permission. Ask about communication, change requests, launch quality and what happened after release. Provider-controlled testimonials are useful context but should not replace your own evaluation.
Compare pricing without inventing a leaderboard
Request a like-for-like proposal with the same pages, content tasks, integrations and acceptance criteria. Do not infer an agency’s price from a directory minimum or a broad market range. A project minimum, hourly rate and completed project total answer different questions.
Our 2026 website cost guide explains scope drivers and links to published market references. It does not assign unsupported Chicago averages or estimate the competitors’ prices.
Where ELEKTRIK fits
ELEKTRIK is an option when your website connects to broader software requirements: custom workflows, platform integrations, customer experiences or a maintenance plan. Our Chicago web design page explains the service-area focus. It does not claim a Chicago office or present BMW and NFL application work as Chicago website projects.
Inspect our case studies and ask about the exact role and relevance of each example to your requirements. An engineering-led approach is not automatically necessary for a straightforward website; the right platform should follow the business need.
Your next step
Use the 12-point agency selection checklist, create a shared brief and compare two or three scoped proposals. For work in other markets, explore Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Seattle, Denver, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Sacramento and Columbus.
Contact ELEKTRIK if you want to discuss fit, or browse the Locations directory. Official provider pages are the sources for the capability summaries above; check them directly for current offerings and meeting arrangements.
